Douglas Music is delighted to welcome Paul Lewis on his second visit to Parbold. In the interim he has been appointed the new joint Artistic Director of Leeds International Piano Competition. Three former prize winners, Sophia Gulyak, Katya Apekisheva and Sunwook Kim appear in this series as a celebration of the world’s most famous piano competition. In 2016 Paul was awarded the CBE in the Queen’s Birthday honours list.

Paul Lewis, born in Liverpool, is internationally regarded as one of the leading musicians of his generation. His piano recordings of Beethoven and Schubert have received unanimous critical and public acclaim worldwide, and consolidated his reputation as one of the world’s foremost interpreters. He has numerous awards from the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Instrumentalist of the Year, to The Gramophone and the South Bank Show.

“There is in Lewis’s playing a strong physicality, a firm connection between his deep thinking about the music and his articulation of it.” Geoffrey Norris, The Daily Telegraph
