Following Alina’s solo violin recital of 2013 and her concert with Cedric in 2015, Douglas Music is delighted to welcome them back to Parbold.
Alina’s duo partnership with pianist Cédric Tiberghien has featured highly successful complete cycles of both the Beethoven violin sonatas and the Mozart sonatas for violin and keyboard.
“Both of these players have the potential to conquer the world.”
Cédric studied at the Paris Conservatoire and, aged just 17, was awarded the Premier Prix in 1992 and first prize at the prestigious Long-Thibaud Competition in Paris in 1998. His career spans five continents performing in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls.
Alina has established a reputation as one of the most accomplished violinists of the younger generation. She was a member of the BBC New Generation Artists Scheme 2005-7 and her awards include the Classical BRIT Young Performers of the Year Awardin 2009. After her five appearances at the BBC Proms 2015, The Guardian commented: “The immediacy and honesty of Ibragimova’s playing has the curious ability to collapse any sense of distance between performer and listener”. She was made an MBE in the 2016 New Year Honours List.
