Violin virtuoso Jack Liebeck is joined by Danny Driver for a very personal homage to musicians who fled from the Nazis to the haven of Hollywood’s hills. Their programme includes works by Schoenberg and Stravinsky, whose film compositions lay in the shadows of arguably the greatest film score writers of his generation, Eric Korngold. The pieces by Achron and Waxman – composer of classics including Rear Window and Sunset Boulevard - are dedicated to one of the most famous violinists of all time, Jascha Heifetz, who arranged the popular encore Estrellita.
“Playing is virtually flawless in its technical ease, scintillating articulateness and purity of tone.”
